Most of the food donated by Frente Alimenta comes through Instituto Terra Viva Brasil de Agroecologia, based in the city of Sorocaba. Terra Viva, as they are known, maintains a warehouse through which the the agroecological food production of 60 farming families from 10 neighboring cities is distributed and marketed. In reality, their scope is much broader as it includes providing technical assistance to the farmers, and undertaking the articulation between the different farmers hubs and various types of support schemes that foster regenerative agriculture. The same quality produce from Terra Viva, used as ingredients in the meals prepared by the community kitchens, is delivered to agroecological stores in the city of São Paulo, such as Instituto Chão, Baru and Terra Livre. In 2022, Frente Alimenta purchased BRL 91,644.00 in products making us their fourth largest customer. That was essential to compose the income of the farming families in their network, contributing to engage the network’s young people in agriculture.
